GROUP SHOW:

"Nevertheless She Persisted"

(See Exhibitions tab for details)

For immediate release

March 6

A new exhibit in the LOVE ART Gallery and Studio is a dedication to strong women everywhere. Starting March 29th with its opening event, and running through June 1st, the exhibit is called “Nevertheless She Persisted” and celebrates Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. Women’s History Month allows for women across the globe to be recognized for their achievements and impact on history. Throughout history women have often been glossed over or forgotten. Dedicating the month to women allows for these errors to be rewritten and for the significance of female power to be highlighted.

The gallery will show a variety of female and male artists depicting themes of female strength and the story of women’s achievements in the face of oppression. This show will host over 15 different artists in a variety of mediums. There will be photography, paintings, drawings, neon sculpture as well as a community mural. Depictions of women celebrating their strength and beauty will displayed alongside more political pieces, such as those dedicated to the #metoo movement. Viewers will be surrounded by the work of a diverse group of artists and encouraged to help individualize the community art project. This installation will be a large art piece involving small drawings and paintings by those visiting the gallery on opening night. The final product will be a collage of influential women based on the thoughts of the community.

MICHAEL WAGNER

   SOLO EXHIBITION

"LEGENDS"

MICHAEL WAGNER: His art education, his early career in graphic design and later law enforcement has provided an interesting combination in visual aesthetics and human psychology. His detailed and colorful portraits are filled with layer upon layer of careful rendering, revealing the ambiguity that exists in every individual and the setting that makes that individual come alive. Considering himself a Pop Realist, his work conveys the colorful experience of “the face in action”, playing music, performing and often in leisure, posing in front of a camera. Growing up in the late sixties and experiencing the surge of a music revolution influenced him greatly and has allowed him to paint a musical soundtrack of his formative years. To Michael, every face has its own unique map and conveys a sense of depth captured best with paint and a brush. Not only does the face of a person provide a fascinating landscape to explore, Michael aims at capturing what’s beneath the surface, particularly the mysteriousness of the rock celebrity and often the energy they embody.
